Computer Club
Welcome to the Betmar Personal Computer Users Group (BUG), a
volunteer organization made up
of over 220 computer users with all levels of expertise.
The following information will help
familiarize you with the many benefits of your membership in BUG Club. All
meetings of the club
are held in Betmar, Club House #2.
The club operates from the first Tuesday in
November through the first Tuesday in April each year.
|
Membership is $15.00 per year. First time members may join in November for a
membership
that is good until January 1 of the following year, providing an additional
two months of
membership as a bonus. You may join the club at any of the club meetings;
Business Meetings, Beginners Classes, or Program Meetings or by contacting the
Membership Chairperson. |
|
|
Business Meetings are held the first Tuesday
of each month at 7:00 p.m.. Attendance is open to all members of the club. |
|
|
Beginners Classes are held on Tuesday
afternoons at 1:00 p.m. All members are welcome to attend as many and for as
long as they wish. The focus is primarily for those members who are new to
computers and wish to develop their knowledge and skills in using their
computer. |
|
|
Program Meetings are held the 2nd,
3rd, and sometimes 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00
p.m. These meetings are open to all members. There is a variety of program
meetings throughout the year based upon the needs of the members. Meetings
include local Computer Shop owners, Internet Provider representatives, members
of our club that have specific expertise, venders of hardware and/or software.
Topics are printed in the Betmar Bulletin monthly and/or announced at Tuesday
morning coffee. |
|
|
At selected meetings, drawings are held of
computer related items. These may be donated by members or venders or
purchased by the club. These drawings are for members only and you must be
present to win. |
|
|
Once a year in December, one of the
Tuesday meetings is our Holiday Party with gift drawing. Once a year, usually
in January, we hold an open house showcasing the BUG Club to Betmar Park. |
|
|
The Club maintains a website
which we suggest you check periodically for what is happening in our
club and in the park. You may wish to share this with your family and friends
“up north”. They may catch your photo on the website one day soon! |
|
|
Technical Support is available. We maintain a
listing of “Members Helping Members” of the names and phone numbers of people
in the club to contact for help in specific computing areas. At times this may
include home assistance or advice as to when to call one of the local
providers who service and repair computers in the Zephyrhills area. |
|
|
Special
Interest Groups (SIGs) are conducted regularly by volunteers in the club on
specific topics. These are usually held in January, February, and March.
These classes are included in with the membership dues so you are encouraged
to attend as many SIGs as you like without extra charge. Most classes are
held in the individual instructors home and are limited to 6-7 persons per
class. Sign ups are made available at the monthly Business Meetings on the
first Tuesday of the month. We feature SIGs for all levels of experience. We
are always looking for members with experience with a specific software or
program for presentations at Program Meetings or SIGs.
Betmar Computer Club has provided a
Computer in the Betmar Library for use by all Residents of Betmar. The
computer is connected to a wireless internet. Printing is also
available for a minimal cost.
|
|
|
Current members are expected to wear
their club name badges at all meetings and classes. This will assist you
in getting acquainted and to identify you as a member of the club. |
|
|
All members are considered to be members of the Program Committee. If you know of a potential presenter at our weekly Program Meetings, please tentatively book that person and notify the Program Chairperson. We can always do some shuffling and rescheduling if we get double booked. |
